चतुर्विंशतिवर्षाणि यावद् गच्छन्ति जन्मतः। जन्मारिष्टं तु तावत् स्यादायुर्दायं न चिन्तयेत्॥
Janma-ariṣṭa lasts until the 24th year. Do not settle āyurdāya before that. This engine flags the window; it does not date a death.

षष्ठाष्टरिष्फगश्चन्द्रः क्रूरैः खेटैश्च वीक्षितः। जातस्य मृत्युदः सद्यस्त्वष्टर्षैः शुभक्षितः॥
Moon in the 6th, 8th, or 12th and aspected by a malefic: a severe janma-ariṣṭa. A benefic aspect softens it (printed ‘up to eight’). The sloka’s mṛtyu-word is not a calendar date.

The 3rd and 8th are the two houses of life. The 12th from each — the 2nd and 7th — are māraka. Sensitive daśā, not a death-date.
