Ashtakoot is nakṣatra-melāpaka from the natal Moon (Muhūrta-cintāmaṇi Vivāha). It is not a BPHS yoga and does not replace the 7th house, Navamsa, or Kuja-doṣa. Eighteen gunas is later matching paddhati, not a Parāśara sūtra. This API scores the eight kūṭas, names the doṣa (2/12, 5/9, 6/8, eka-nāḍī), and applies only printed bhaṅga.

शास्त्र — मुहूर्तचिन्तामणि विवाह

वर्णो वश्यं तथा तारा योनिश्च ग्रहमैत्रकम् । गणमैत्रं भकूटं च नाडी चैते गुणाधिकाः ॥

Varna, Vaśya, Tārā, Yoni, Graha-maitrī, Gaṇa-maitrī, Bhakūṭa, and Nāḍī: these are the gunas, each one point more than the last (1 through 8 = 36).

जन्म सम्पत् विपत् क्षेम प्रत्यरि साधक वध मित्र अतिमित्र

The nine tārās counted from the janma nakṣatra. Remainder 0 is Atimitra (9th). Vipat, Pratyari, and Vadha are inauspicious. Matching scores both directions: 3 / 1.5 / 0.

Aries–Scorpio, Taurus–Libra, Cancer–Sagittarius, Leo–Pisces, Gemini–Virgo, Capricorn–Aquarius: even 6/8 is auspicious.

वश्यत्वे राशिनाथानामैत्र्यां वा न भकूटकम् । लाभद्वितीये राशीशसख्ये दोषो न विद्यते ॥

If the rāśi-lords are friends, or one sign is vaśya to the other, 2/12 Bhakūṭa does not apply.

Kālaprakāśikā

ज्येष्ठार्यम्णे शनीहराधिपभयुगयुगं दास्रभं चैकनाडी पुष्येन्दुत्वाष्ट्रमित्रान्तकवसुजलभं योनिबुध्ने च मध्या । वाय्वग्निव्यालविश्वोडुयुगयुगमथो पौष्णभं चापरास्याद् दम्पत्योरेकनाड्यां परिणयनमसन्मध्यनाड्यां हि मृत्युः ॥

Marriage in the same nāḍī is inauspicious (asat). The same Madhya nāḍī is spoken of as death-like.

ऋक्षैक्ये राशिभेदे च राश्यैक्ये ऋक्षभिन्नके । नाडीदोषो न विद्यते तथा गणकृतो रणः ॥

Same nakṣatra and different Moon-signs, or the same Moon-sign and different nakṣatras: Nāḍī-doṣa and Gaṇa-doṣa do not apply.

Jyotirnibandha

रोहिण्यार्द्रा मघा पुष्यो विशाखा श्रवणो भरणी । उत्तराभाद्रपच्चैव एकनाडी न दोषकृत् ॥

Rohiṇī, Ārdrā, Maghā, Puṣya, Viśākhā, Śravaṇa, Bharaṇī, and Uttara-bhādrapadā: eka-nāḍī is not a doṣa.

Nāḍī matters most for Brāhmaṇa, Bhakūṭa for Kṣatriya, Gaṇa for Vaiśya, Varṇa for Śūdra.
